Dr Shahnawaz is an expert in performing surgeries on some of the most complicated and challenging cancer cases. He has given some of the best results in such cases. Currently Dr Shahnawaz is associated with Radiant Hospital, Katihar as Chief Cancer Specialist & Surgeon. Before Radiant Hospital Dr Shahnawaz was working with Katihar Medical College, Katihar and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi.

Dr Shahnawaz is a graduate from RIMS, Ranchi, Jharkhand and post graduate in surgery from PMCH, Patna, Bihar. He did Senior Residency in Surgical Oncology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. He is Fellow of prestigious American College of Surgeons, Fellow of Society of Surgical Oncology, USA and Fellow of International College of Surgeons (Oncology). Dr Shahnawaz is also known for his publications in national and international journals. One of the most prominent of many such cases is the Unique technique he developed for Surgical Excision of AV Malformation of Scrotum which was published in Journal of Clinical Urology, an official publication of British Association of Urological Surgeons.
